About

I build spatial tools for real people.

I'm Maxwell Howe, a Web GIS developer and spatial analyst with an M.S. in Geo-Information Science from Salem State University.

I combine spatial analysis, R and Python scripting, and front-end development to turn geographic data into maps and tools that people can understand and use.

I also teach high-school math, probability, and statistics. Teaching has made me careful about explanation: technically correct work matters, but so does helping a non-technical audience understand what the result means and what they can do with it.

My teaching work includes LEHS Math, Howe2Math, and WhydahStory, a middle-school curriculum combining pirate history, navigation, primary-source research, and original classroom games.

For browser tools, games, fantasy maps, and experiments outside the professional portfolio, visit my creative lab at Mapzimus.

I'm looking for GIS developer, Web GIS, and spatial analysis roles. I'm based in Salem and open to hybrid or remote work across Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island.
